Building collaborative Networks.  The Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering (ACNS) will facilitate a clip session in which PhD students and postdoctoral researchers will showcase their current work and future directions.

On the 17th October 2019 the Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering (ACNS) will host a clip day focused on showcasing research by PhD students and post-doctoral researchers that are co-supervised by an ACNS staff member. The event will be held in the OPAL Visitor Centre (B83) at ANSTO's Lucas Heights campus.

The purpose of the clip day is to:

  • provide a forum for participants to interact and connect with peers, their ACNS co-supervisors and other ACNS staff;
  • gain experience presenting their work to a scientific audience from a broad range of disciplines;
  • learn about exciting new research happening at ACNS;
  • facilitate valuable discussions and feedback on the research studies of the PhD students and post-doctoral researchers.

All PhD students are encouraged to apply, even if you do not have results yet ! The opportunity to get to know each other and to develop your working relationships with your co-supervisors and peers is not to be missed.

With talks from over 30 young researchers the day will provide an insight into the range of capabilities at ACNS. These talks will showcase the quest to answer fundamental questions about the structure, composition and dynamics of materials used in medicine, mining, transportation, building, engineering, food processing and scientific research.

All participants will provide a short overview presentation of their work with ample time set aside for sharing of ideas and in-depth discussions.  In addition a poster session will be held to further encourage knowledge sharing and from this we anticipate cross-fertilisation of ideas with the likelihood that researchers will see the power for their project of previously unconsidered neutron scattering techniques.

The Neutron Scattering Clip Day is a FREE event, with accommodation and travel support available to qualified participants.

The symposium commences with a welcome dinner on the 16th October.
