ANSTO Young Researchers' Conference

The ANSTO Young Researchers’ Conference is an annual event devoted to show-casing advances in research and development made by young researchers using ANSTO facilities, or in collaboration with ANSTO scientists and engineers. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Research conducted as part of the main research themes of ANSTO; Nuclear Fuel Cycle, Health and Environment.
  • Research conducted in ANSTO with divisions and institutes such as Minerals, Health and Synroc.
  • External research that has utilised ANSTO infrastructure including OPAL, the Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering, the Nuclear Materials Development and Characterisation platform, the National Deuteration Facility, the Australian Synchrotron or the Centre for Accelerator Science.
  • Research that was conducted in collaboration with ANSTO scientists or engineers.

Benefits and prizes

In 2019, the ANSTO Young Researchers’ Conference will host an oral and poster session. Oral and poster presentations will be assessed by a panel of senior scientific members of ANSTO and AINSE staff, based on presentation quality and knowledge of research area.

The following prizes will be available through the support of ANSTO and AINSE:

Oral presentations

1st prize: Travel bursary award of $1,500.

2nd prize: Travel bursary award of $750.

Poster presentations

1st prize: Travel bursary award of $750.

The purpose of these prizes is to enable young researchers to present their work at a national or international conference relating to their research disciplines.

Who can apply?

AINSE PGRA holders, graduate students, PhD students and post‑doctoral/early-career researchers (up to 5 years after completion of PhD) undertaking research at ANSTO may apply.
