Prof. Richard Haverkamp                                            

Massey University

Professor Richard Haverkamp holds a Personal Chair in Nanotechnology at Massey University in New Zealand and teaches in the School of Engineering and Advanced Technology. His research covers nanostructure and mechanical relationships in collagen materials, nanomaterials for electrochemical processes, and materials from mineral resources. He makes extensive use of a variety of synchrotron techniques, mainly at the Australian Synchrotron. He graduated with a PhD from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and he has held visiting research positions at NTNU, Trondheim, Norway and MIT, Cambridge, USA. He has published over 100 journal papers and received a number of awards including the President’s Medal from the Institute of Professional Engineers NZ, and the Gold Award from the Ministry of Innovation Business and Employment, NZ. He has received research funding from industry in New Zealand, Australia, US, Norway, France, Switzerland and Germany and government funding from NZ, Australia, Canada, Taiwan, Norway and Japan.

 

Kerryn Caulfield                                            

CEO, Composites Australia Inc.

As association and manufacturing specialist, Kerryn is contracted to manage and advocate for national industry bodies, particularly Composites Australia. Her many achievements disseminating knowledge and science to industry include over 60 conferences and 200 seminars and technology workshops, enabled by the recruitment of over 4,000 speakers.

Additionally, she has published over 50 magazines featuring manufacturing achievements and been involved with over 50 international missions designed to develop global business for Australian firms.

Kerryn has also managed many government programs and initiatives that aim to build capability and that help Australian enterprises improve.

In her early career, Kerryn held senior international trade positions with large manufacturing firms and industry bodies. Her contribution towards Australian exports was recognised by the Australian Trade Commission and the College of International Business and provided her with a legacy of global contacts. She has also held a number of Ministerial appointments and is Acting Chair of the Australian Alpaca Fleece Limited.

 

Michael Fuller                                            

CEO, Conflux Technology

Conflux Technology is an Advanced Manufacturing operation focussed on the design, development and serial production of parts utilising direct metal Additive Manufacturing technology.

Conflux Technology’s founder, Michael Fuller, has 15 years’ experience embedded within the engineering departments of world leading automotive motorsport organisations such as Mercedes F1, BMW F1 and Honda F1.

In addition to metal additive manufactured designs, Michael has experience in the design and development of structural carbon composite chassis and suspension assemblies. Michael also has extensive experience in the design, calculation and production management of precision mechanical systems.

 

Dr. Robert Acres                                            

ANSTO, Clayton

An industry support scientist with ANSTO, based at the Australian Synchrotron, Dr Robert Acres collaborates with industry partners to improve products and processes within small to large enterprises and across sectors.

Dr Acres helps Australian industries innovate by tailoring the uniquely specialised analytical capabilities of the ANSTO to meet the specific needs of clients.

Before joining the Australian Synchrotron in 2014, Dr Acres worked as a scientist at the Elettra synchrotron facility in Trieste, Italy. Originally from Adelaide, he completed his PhD in Applied Science at The University of South Australia in 2010 and his honours degree in Nanotechnology at Flinders University in 2005.
