Description

Hot Isostatic Pressing is widely used today to eliminate internal defects in components to achieve improved material properties like ductility and fatigue. With the modern HIP systems that Quintus Technologies can offer today there are possibilities to incorporate more processes steps into the HIP process. These process steps can be stress relief, solutionizing, quenching, ageing, tempering etc. performed in the same equipment during the same cycle which makes a very effective process route. In this paper the possibilities for different HIP and heat treatment cases will be discussed together with results from trials within the combination of HIP and heat treatment. The results are a very cost effective way to obtain a material with the desired properties.
