FNCA Research on climate change using nuclear and isotopic techniques planning meeting

The impacts of climate change place an enormous burden on ecosystems and landscapes from mountains and deserts, to lakes, rivers, and coasts and oceans. This FNCA project focuses on the application of nuclear and isotopic techniques to identify and date past ecosystem, landscape and climate changes.

The first coordination meeting aims to gain an understanding of what and how techniques are being applied in the region, address key questions and knowledge gaps, identify areas of overlap and the potential for new initiatives. It will run over three and a half days and include talks and poster presentations by participating countries and invited Australian researchers working in the region, a tour of the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) facilities, and opportunities for small group discussions by theme and/or region. A report summarising the meeting and plan for the remainder of the project will be produced, and a scientific publication including a review of the current state of knowledge, key questions and gaps will be prepared.
