DESCRIPTION:Imaging and Medical Beamline CT workshop: CT@IMBL-2019\n\nTha
nks for you interest in the CT workshop.\n\nThe registration limit has bee
n reached. If you would like to be put on the reserve list for the next wo
rkshop please email Chris Hall (chris.hall@synchrotron.org.au)\n\nThe purp
ose of the workshop is to increase familiarity with the techniques for col
lecting and processing data from the IMBL.\n\nDuring these two days we wi
ll make presentations and run tutorial sessions covering all operations\
, from setting up the beam line\, collecting data\, to reconstructing a
nd visualising CT data on IMBL.\n\nIn the mornings a series of talks wil
l explain the principles. Hands-on practical sessions in the afternoons w
ill allow you to practice IMBL CT work-flows using your own\, or demonstr
ation data sets. Sessions will be run by Synchrotron and CSIRO staff.\n\nO
n the first day there will be an opportunity to visit the beamline.\n\nDay
1: Takes you through the components of the beam line and the principles
of computed tomography. This will be followed by descriptions of the inter
faces\, and how we run a CT scan on IMBL. Once data has been collected th
e management of data will be explained including remote access and transf
er. First level processing including reconstruction of 3-D volume data cub
es from raw data will be demonstrated. The new ASCI compute cluster will
be used and its use for processing IMBL data demonstrated. A practical ses
sion in the afternoon will allow delegates to practice using their own\, o
r our provided training data.\n\nDay 2: Once simple reconstruction is com
plete\, visualisation is the next step in the process.Processing of large
amounts of data using scripts will be described. 3-D visualisation will b
e explained\, using the tools available on the ASCI Compute Desktop. A ne
w session will be introduced\, where experienced Users will describe their
experiments and experiences on IMBL.  A second practical session after l
unch will allow for practice and questions.\n\nWorkshop topics will incl
ude:\n\n\n	Practical considerations for mounting and moving samples\n	How
to choose the best x-ray energy\n	Avoiding artefacts in the reconstructed
data\n	Presenting CT data through segmentation and animation\n\n\nRegistra
tion\n\n\n	Includes a light lunch\, morning and afternoon teas. Supper on
Monday evening.\n	Access to all workshop materials\n\n\nAccomodation an
d travel assistance\n\n\n	Accomodation will be made available at the AS gu
est house. This will be at no cost\, for registered interstate and country
Victoria participants only.\n	Other participants may book guest house acc
ommodation at their own expense.\n	To book a room please click on the Gue
sthouse link.\n\n\nWhat you will need to provide\n\nAccess to the IMBL fil
estore and ASCI computer is through a web page interface\, Please bring al
ong your own laptop/tablet for this. If for some reason you are not able t
o do this we may be able to provide a laptop. Please let us know during re
gistration if you would like to book one.\n\nWe look forward to seeing yo
u at the Australian Synchrotron in March...\n\nChris Hall\, Anton Maksimen
