DESCRIPTION:Supported by Microscopy Australia (formally AMMRF)\, Flinders 
 University and the Australian Synchrotron\n\nScanning Transmission X-ray M
 icroscopy (STXM) and Photoemission electron microscopy (PEEM) are powerful
  spectromicroscopy techniques that combine high spatial resolution mapping
  and chemical analysis. These frontier technologies allow the investigatio
 n of structural\, morphological\, magnetic\, electronic and chemical prope
 rties of heterogeneous matter. This 2 day masterclass will provide an intr
 oduction to Scanning Transmission X-ray Microscopy and Photoemission Elect
 ron Microscopy for both new and current users and presentations from resea
 rchers. The workshop will focus on theory\, sample preparation and data pr
 ocessing. Its aim is to familiarise participants with spectral processing 
 and interpretation\, and provide hands-on training for computational image
  analysis methodologies. The masterclass will conclude with an open discus
 sion and planning session regarding the advancement and procurement of STX
 M for the AS\, and information regarding access mechanisms to overseas fac
 ilities.\n\nYoung investigators\, such as PhD students and postdocs are en
 couraged to apply. A limited number of travel grants provided by the AMMRF
  will be awarded to applicants selected on the basis of their qualificatio
 ns for the purpose of the course.\n\n \n\nFor more information please con
