The Australian Synchrotron and Society of Crystallographers in Australia and New Zealand (SCANZ) are pleased to announce the Australasian Crystallography School 2016. 

This school is intended for PhD students and early postdoctoral researchers wishing to develop their theoretical and practical skills in structure determination by X-ray crystallography.

The full course will combine lectures by expert crystallographers with intensive hands-on computer-based practical sessions to provide a thorough introduction to the theory and practise of X-ray crystal structure determination. 

 

There are two streams

- chemical crystallography - 01/02/2016 to 05/02/2016
- protein crystallography - 31/01/2016 to 05/02/2016

These streams that have two common days and 3 stream specific days CX and 4 specific days for PX

There is also the possibility to apply for the lectures-only component: this option does not include the tutorials on Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday but includes all the lectures and is specificaly indicated to all that want a refresher on the theoretical background. For the lectures-only option there won't be a selection period as we don't need to limit the numbers the same way. Also no supervisor recomendation letter is needed as well. As numbers on the full course are limited we recomend all that are not accepted on the full course with tutorials register at least for the lectures only where they will profit from the gross training given anyway. 

This course is open to people from institutions within Australia and New Zealand; although selected participants from overseas may also be considered (numbers will be limited).

SCANZ student members may apply online for consideration for Maslen scholarships as well as the crystal school.

Australian Society of Biophysics students can apply to ASB for a bursary. More details upon registration on the school.
