DESCRIPTION:The powder diffraction teams from the Australian Synchrotron (
 AS) and Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering (ACNS) are hosting a 3-da
 y virtual powder diffraction workshop for beginners aimed at post-graduate
  students and early career researchers.\n\nThis workshop aims to cover all
  stages of sample analysis\, beginning at sample preparation\, experimenta
 l setup through to instrument characterisation and qualitative and quantit
 ative analysis. Topics will include: basic crystallography\, search/match
 ing\, indexing\, geometry corrections\, proposal writing and tips on plann
 ing your experiment.\n\nDemonstration sessions will be used to practically
  reinforce the material presented and will be split into 2 parallel sessio
 ns using TOPAS and GSAS II. \n\nLecture and demonstration places are limi
 ted to 30 and priority will be given to Early Career Researchers and PhD s
 tudents with synchrotron or neutron data or who have beamtime allocated.\n
 \nThe workshop is free. \n\nLectures and demonstrations will be presented
  by Mr. Ian Madsen (CSIRO)\, the AS Powder Diffraction (PD) and Advanced D
 iffraction and Scattering (ADS) beamline teams at the AS\, and the Powder
  Diffraction team at the ACNS\, ANSTO. Examples of research carried out 
 at the AS and ACNS will also be presented by Dr. Matilde Saura-Múzquiz (
